Auld Lang Syne

Hello, everyone!
The Mum here. Over the past several months, I have been overwhelmed by the the kitties and beans who blog. I could spend hours each day(and sometimes have!) reading about the adventures of my contacts. I have made many friends and have become deeply concerned about the welfare of folks I may never meet outside the Web.

For us, it has been a bit of a difficult year - my continuing health issues and the loss of two beloved kitties, Tilly and Jiggsy. I started blogging because I thought it would be fun - it is! but along with that, is the dawning realization that I don't have the talent for it. I am continuely impressed by the blog content out there - The Calico Girls and their exquisite website, The Meezers and weekly reports, the catcams at IFOC and so many more.

I have decided to stop blogging. I love the cat blogosphere and will pop in to visit frequently, but Toby and I are old and dull. We're at the point where we'd rather sit in a quiet corner with a drink than burn up the dance floor.

We cherish you all and wish everyone a healthy, prosperous new year filled with cuddles and skritches.

Love to all from the Mom, Dad and Toby, too.

You have one of the first bloggies mama and I read. And have continued to read. You are not boring or anything. We have enjoyed meeting you here. Not all of us are up on the technicalities or anything. We just enjoy meeting and getting to know others. And realizing there are so many nice beans and kitties. Please continue to visit, and please let us know how you are.

We are very sorry to hear you are leaving our community! We understand the hardships that life deals us, but we don't understand when you say you don't have the talent for it. Every blog is different and unique and that is why it is so much fun!

We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and hope you decide to rejoin us. We will really miss you.

Hugs and Purrs...

i just read about your decision to not blog anymore and came over to visit. i read back, and am sorry we were not regular visitors. the choice is yours, of course, but i think all of us are here to smile, share stories, meet new friends. it's not a talent contest nor do you have to lead exciting lives to be a member of this wonderful community. please reconsider. and whatever you choose to do, be well.

we will miss you so very much. i have always enjoyed your blog.

i understand the feeling about not being technically saavy. i can upload photos and post entries. the whole html thing boggles my mind.

we have enjoyed the secret paws yuki & kimiko received this past summer from the tower hill mob. they still enjoy the bags of nip. especially kimiko, she claims both of them for her own.

i understand what you went thru losing two of your babies this past year. my heart so cried for you in your time of loss. i lost my two boys about a year apart. it was very hard.

please come visit whenever you get a chance. we will be looking for your comments. perhaps someday toby will want to start his own blog. if he does we will be there to comment.

take care, we will be praying for you and your family.

So sorry to hear you are quiting the blogsphere. I found you through Lair's cat blogroll over at IFOC and have been a regular reader (if not commenter). I hope you find that you have more to say and come back to blogging, even if it's only a once a month update on how you're doing. We'll miss you, have a better 2007.

Happy New Year to The Tower Hill Mob.

We will miss you and your blog. But keep us posted on any major developments.

Like some of the other commenters, you blog about what is happening. It doesn't have to be smart, funny, just what is happening.

And for understanding HTLM. Mum knows a tiny bit. Otherwise she just types and takes pictures to post

I just want to wish you all the best in 2007, no matter what. Best wishes from my whole family (they understand what you mean). Sometimes it's good to just simplify your life, my mom often says.

You alone know what is right for you, but to point out the obvious, forever is a long, long time.

My own, totally unsolicited and quite likely unwanted advice is to take keep the blog around, take a break, and see how you feel about things in a few months.

And from what I've seen, you do indeed have a talent for blogging.

Take care.

We will miss you. We don't think you and Toby are boring. And like others have said, we are each unique. We hopes that you are not writing because you are not drawn to doing it and not because you think you aren't good enough.

Please stop by from time to time and share what's going on.

Purrs and headbutts to you and Toby.

We agree with efurryone else, you are definitely not boring, and we're all different in how we blog, which is good! It's up to you, but we hopes you'll at least think 'bout keepin' the blog and just updatin' once in awhile, when you feel like it, 'cause we'll miss you!

I have to agree with the sentiments here. I will admit that the first time we visited your blog is today when we saw the link about in on the cat blogosphere website. We had to take a hiatus back in the fall because my Mom also felt overwhelmed by the blogosphere. It is impossible for her to keep up with all the blogs, much less take the time to comment on them all. Mom thought this made us bad bloggers and that others would be upset or something. But then she realized that's just silly! She loves the blogosphere for how it brings people together to help each other out. We really do start to care about each other... Mom has cried many tears in front of the computer... both happy and sad. We promise that no one will think less of you if you don't post or comment often. We ourselves only post a few times a month... if that. But it's fun for us to do...and to be able to help out when we can... and to have these other special people in our lives.

I hope that you don't take the blog down and that you do stop by from time to time... at least to let everyone know how you are doing. Think of all the people you care about here and know that they care about you too... and will be upset to not know how you and Toby are getting on in life. You are most assuredly not boring... nor do you lack blogging talent (we read your past posts today). Obviously we cannot all be the Calico Girls or Skeezix or Kukka-Maria or any of the other more "advanced blogs". But honestly, the simple ones are really my favorites.

So that's our two cents (or I think with the link of this post we are nearing a dollar). No matter what you decide, we wish you all the best in life.

Hugs and purrs from Mattingly and Harlie.

Well, I have thought of not blogging many, many times faced with the real talent that's out there.

Guess there is room for all of us, though. Blogging isn't a talent contest (or they'd never let me in), it's a way to connect to others.

Hope to see you back soon, maybe you just need a break...there's gonna be a lot of folks that miss you.

Happy 2007....

we are so very sad to hear this. We love you guys, and we don't think you are not talented or old and dull at all. We do understand, because we know of your health issues. We care about you very much, and hope that things are ok. We are sometimes overwhelmed by the blogsphere too- and it can take us days to visit everyone. We are very empathetic with your losing 2 loved furbabies this year- as we did too. It's hard sometimes and we understand. We hope to still stay in touch with you!!! Mary, Sammy and Miles

We loved reading about Toby and Tilly. We know it is a bit much sometimes to constantly keep up blog comments, but we hope you will drop by now and again and let us know how you are getting on. We would miss you otherwise! Besides, I need to know if my floofy friend Toby ever manages to catch up with my mighty weight. Purrs to you and Toby, good luck in the future and Happy New Year.

Of course you should do what makes you happy, but I would hope that you wouldn't stop blogging just because you feel old and/or boring in comparison to others. There is no comparison because we're all different, and the nice thing about the kitty bloggers is that no one is trying to outdo anyone else. We'll miss you if you stop posting, but we'll certainly be happy to see you visiting and commenting if that's what you'd prefer.
You were the first kitty blog I discovered, after you posted a comment on Kat's Cat of the Day and I followed the link. There was a post about Toby having a "pear shape" and needing help with "dingleberries", complete with arrows and labels. I cracked up. I loved your sense of humor and have read every post since. Maybe you could just have that adorable big fluff Toby post once a month just to say hi? Besides, I always love seeing pictures of him. After all, I'm a Fluffaholic.
