Just out of curiousity- how many beans have changed or amended holiday decorations based upon their cat's (pets') activities? Please let us know. My beans seem to think they are the only ones.
Thanks,
Toby

After having a tree knocked down, our Mom hasn't had a Christmas tree in many years. If she puts up anything, it's high where we can't jump or climb. Score 1 for the cats!! YESSS!!!

our Lady has had some ummm..."complicated emotional issues" regarding decorating in the last couple years. last year was the first year we were with her, and we were bouncy 7 month old kittens, so she decided not to decorate at all and used us as the excuse. she's going with that again this year. actually, it's a really smart thing to not decorate if you live with my sister Midnight.

Why would the humans do that? Just cuz we like to climb things and knock them over and stuff? Hmph.

My whole house is "amended" based on the cats.

our mom has "issues", too. last year for the first time in years she put up a tree, but didn't use the "good" glass ornaments. this year, they're just using the little tabletop model. if we knock it ofur, it's no big deal. they don't put breakables on it.

Oh yeah, nothing breakable gets puts out. No plants that might hurty me if I eat them.

Our beans have to put the Christmas tree outdoors, on the other side of the living room window! They think we're going to trash it! They say it's cuz we're still young. Mommakitty said she had to do this with her previous cats until they outgrew the novelty.

Well, Mom an Dad puts all the reely interestin ornamints up high but the ones at the bottom tend to fall off when no one's lookin. Uh-huh, they just fall off by themselves. Reely!

Mom's firstest cat would drink the tree water wif pre-serf-ative an get sick. Mom's nefur found a cat IN the tree, but she had to put a gift outta reach cuz Bonnie could smell the catnip a mile off!

Momma says NO TREE this year because Precious is such a little brat and climbs everything, and knocks everything on the floor and pulls on anything dangling and is, in general, a butt.....so now WE CAN'T HAVE A TREE!!!

Mostly just putting ornaments so they don't hang too low near the floor, cause Scout will bat them off & all over the floor.

We have a fake tree cause one cat knocked over a real tree once. We also don't have tinsel on the tree so that no one can eat it...

I've had Gizzy 14 years, and two cats for 13, and never had a problem with the cats and the Christmas tree. But both were very close to a year old at the time of their first Christmas.

But Millie... My goodness. She has been up and down the fake tree since I put it up. She's dragged down the lights and garlands, pulling down the branches. She's dislodged branches. After the third day, I decided not to hang any Christmas ball ornaments. Today, six days later, I removed the lights, sparkly garland and cranberry garlands. Then I hung only unbreakeable ornaments, and made sure to hang noisy ones at the bottom to give Millie something to play with. So far that's worked. But it's kind of dull. I really hope she mellows out about it so I can have a tree with all the decorations next year. I'll let you know.

Can I help it if I like to get into stuff and she wuz afraid I wood make the tree fall down? She's still debating about THIS year since she still got last year's fake tree in the closet.

we got a prelit faux tree because the cats kepp knocking over the real trees. then we got a new tree this year because the cats had really sprayed the last on and hte lights were jury rigged with additional strands added. so we just got a new one and its kept in the living room behind a shut door and htey have to be monitored. supervised access only. oh and we have to buy new bulbs every year as they dont last long around here.

My Mom always decorates with us in mind. We appreciate it as being treated in the royal manner we deserve. However, she believes it saves her "ornaments". It doesn't, but we appreciate her trying. ~Merlin,SHadow, Ko KO

Oh no, your beans aren't the only ones. A good example is that this year I decided to explore her Christmas Village. This will be my third Christmas here, and the third Christmas that village has been here, and this is the first year I've showed any interest in it. So, mommy rearranged the village so I won't knock anything over when I jump up on the tables, and she widened the "streets" so I haf a place to stroll...
She decorates, she just alters things a little to accomodate me. As well she should...

No presents under the tree due to two boys with pee problems ... It kinda sucks for me because I used to like to hid amidst the presents/boxes. Oh, and no glass. And ornaments near the bottom have to be plastic balls that roll and cannot be smashed when Sparky "Gretsky-pants" slapshots them into the dishwasher, range, refrigerator, cabinets ...

Oh, and I didn't mention that the fakey-fake tree is twelve feet tall and ways squillions of pounds so that when it's climbed, it stays put.
